BEING THE 2011 AFRICAN AUDIO-VISUAL AWARDS (TAVA) WORLD PRESS CONFERENCE ADDRESS BY OKEY OGUNJIOFOR.
Distinguished Gentlemen of the Press, this is the 3rd edition of TAVA AWARDS and our profound gratitude goes to God for being our help through these years. Let me also express our sincere gratitude for all your support and efforts towards making Tava a truly world class African event. To our colleagues in the Film, Television, Music and Advertising industry, we say THANK YOU for being there for us. Tava is what it is today because of your firm belief in us.
For those of us here who may not know what TAVA is all about, it is a professional statement directed at African Audio-Visual professionals at home and in the Diaspora to create synergy where both will derive cherished objectives that will most definitely rub off on our entertainment industry regarding improved creative production processes.
• Tava seeks to reward team work as well as encourage training and re-training of our professionals towards creating perfect pictures & perfect sounds
WHEN DID TAVA 2011 ENTRY CLOSE?
Entry into TAVA 2011 edition began since the 15th of March and closed on the 15th of June 2011 to give ample room for the Jury to do a thorough work on the entries before nominations, and today we are happy to say that the Nominations are ready for public scrutiny.
WHAT IS THE SCOPE OF TAVA PARTICIPATION SO FAR?
In 2009 we had a total of seventy entries from Nigeria, Ghana, and South Africa, but by the second edition we had over a hundred entries while this 2011 edition has received sixty four. We also now have offices in four African Countries.
WHEN IS TAVA 2011 EDITION HOLDING & WHERE?
TAVA 2011 holds at Ultra modern Banquet Hall of The National Theatre, Iganmu Lagos on Sunday the 31st July, 2011 beginning with Champagne Soiree on purple carpet by 3 pm. prompt
HOW WILL TAVA 2011 BE DIFFERENT FROM PREVIOUS EDITIONS?
• The venue has moved from the Island to the Main Land due to popular demands from both industry professionals and sponsors.
• The time has been moved from 5pm up to 3pm
• The date has been moved from weekdays to weekends to encourage participation.
• Our Sponsor (SAMSUNG) is coming to take charge of audio-visual projection during TAVA event.
• We seriously envisage Diaspora participation in this edition.
• TAVA 2011 event will be the height of entertainment as we have lines up top music acts and comedians billed to perform on that day.
• Currently, we have three global brands led by SAMSUNG & supported by, UAC GOSSY water, National Lottery Regulatory Commission & Five international partners among others that have thrown their weight behind TAVA.
• Like never before, there will be so much to eat and drink in this coming event courtesy of our partners.
• TAVA, a truly African event for professionals; will be strictly by invitation for only men and women of class. Therefore 2011 edition will witness fewer invitation cards. We are preparing to host between 200 – 500 professionals only.
