For African Audio-visual Awards (TAVA) is aimed at recognising and celebrating the harmony of perfect sounds and pictures.

Plans are, however, in top gear as organisers of TAVA are putting finishing touches for the second edition of the awards billed to hold on July 23rd 2010 at the prestigious Shell Hall, Muson Centre Onikan, Lagos.

Therefore, doors are open for entries and nominations for the 2010 edition of the awards from all over Africa. This year's awards' categories have been expanded and they include Gospel R&B, hip-hop and indigenous. Others are feature, documentary and short films. In this category, they will be looking at films shot with celluloid and ordinary camera. "All this is due to the need to accommodate more entries as we all know that the African entertainment industry is expanding on a daily basis."
The entries for this year's awards, as stated by the organisers, are the productions done between June 2009 and June 2010. July 1st to July 17th 2010 will be devoted to jury nominations. Nominations will be released to members of the public seven days to the D-day.
Mr. Okey Ogujiofor, president, TAVA awards, said: "What makes this award different from other awards is that it is a platform created to harmonise all aspects of story-telling that employ pictures and sounds- Music Videos, Film, Television and Advertising Commercials. And for the winner of each category, a plague will be given, while the team will be awarded a certificate for a job well done.
"While other awards talk mainly about people in front of the camera, TAVA seeks to recognise men behind the pictures and sounds. It seeks to reward team work in creating perfect pictures and sounds. It creates a benchmark for professionalism towards an African audio-visual renaissance where global pictures with universal sounds will make Nollywood pictures to be enjoyed and celebrated worldwide rather than tolerated."
Partnering is DAAR Communications PLC, and supporting are Morgon, ITPAN, FEPACI, BFC, NCC, BOS, AGN, NTA, DGN, Videosonic, Association of Movie Journalists, among others.
