BEING THE 2010 AFRICAN AUDIO-VISUAL AWARDS (TAVA) WORLD PRESS CONFERENCE ADDRESS BY OKEY OGUNJIOFOR.

Dear Colleagues, Words are not enough to express my sincere gratitude for all your support and efforts towards making Tava 2009 a world class event. In fact most of you have continued to partner with us and your presence at the maiden edition at the Muson centre, Onikan – Lagos Nigeria made a world of difference. To my colleagues in the Film, Television, Music and Advertising industry, I say THANK YOU for being there for us. Tava 2009 was a huge success because of your belief in us.

WHAT MAKES TAVA DIFFERENT FROM OTHER AWARDS?

The African Audio Visual Awards is uniquely different first and foremost, because of the people behind it. It is a platform created to harmonize all aspects of story-telling that employ pictures and sounds- Music Videos, Film, Television and Advertising Commercials.

  • While other awards talk mainly of people in front of the camera, Tava seeks to recognize the men behind the pictures and sounds.
  • Tava seeks to reward team work in creating perfect pictures & perfect sounds.
  • Tava seeks to create a bench mark for professionalism towards an African Audio-visual renaissance where global pictures with universal sounds will make Nollywood pictures enjoyed and celebrated worldwide rather than tolerated.

LAST EDITION -2009
Never before in Africa has a singular event brougth together professionals in the music, film, television and advertising industry under one roof to celebrate and honour  outstanding colleagues in the presence of A-list audience; which includes Ambassadors, heads of Governments, Actors, Music Icons, Television Idols, Advertising experts and Captains of Industries.

We had a lot of entries from all sectors of the entertainment industry of Africa. However, the music video entries and commercials were way up there in terms of cinematographic excellence which is what Tava is all about. ..
We were amazed at the reception Tava received across the world and in Government circles and we believe that this (next edition) will be bigger as we have started to receive enquiries from all over the world.

YEAR IN FOCUS-2010
Tava calls for entries and nominations for the 2010 edition from all over Africa. We have expanded the award categories due to the need to accommodate more entries as we all know that the African entertainment industry is expanding on a daily basis.

The calendar year in focus is June 2009 to June 2010 productions. Entries begin on 22nd April 2010 and end on June 30th 2010. From the 1st of July to the 17th of July will be devoted to jury nominations. Nominations will be released to members of the public 7 days to the D-day.

CONCLUSION
Gentlemen of the Press and Colleagues, let me here also thank you in advance for your partnership as we strive together to take Nollywood and our entertainment industry, the only African Global brand to the next level.
